Walter Lee Gilliam, Sr., 82, of 547 Garrison Road, passed away, Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in Decatur, Alabama.
He was born in Honea Path, SC, a son of the late Fred and Lois Copeland Gilliam.
He was a retired self-employed truck driver and a member of Grace Baptist Church of Pelzer.
Surviving are: two sons, Walter Lee Gilliam Jr. and his wife, Jeanie of Pelzer and Fred Gilliam and his wife, Lynda of Decatur, AL; four daughters, Judy Collins and her husband, Bobby of Honea Path, Connie Smith and her husband, Rick of Central, Sissy Hendricks of Piedmont, and Polly Gilliam of Spartanburg; two sisters, Frances Coker of Pelzer and Martha Kerns of Piedmont; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Roxie Harris Gilliam, and his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Gilliam.
Services will be 2 PM, Friday, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Reverends John Griffin and Gerald Jenkins officiating. Burial to follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 1 to 2 PM, Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family is at the home at 547 Garrison Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to VistaCare Hospice, 4006 East North Street, Greenville, SC 29615.
