Mr. Walter Thompson "Grandpa" Green, 89, formerly of Easley, and husband of Vera Mae Corn Green, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Newport, NC.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late John Redmond and Ethel McCall Green, Mr. Green retired from the MCAS at Cherry Point and was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Newport, NC. He was a US Army and Navy Veteran having served during WWII.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of seventy-one years, are three sons, Walter Wayne Green (Jean) of Newport, NC, Larry Earl Green of Newport, NC, and Donald Carlton Green of Carolina Pines, NC; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Green was predeceased by four brothers, Ralph, Berry, Roy, and John Green; and two sisters, Ruby Coyle and Olie Mae Alverson.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens, SC.

The family will receive friends immediatley following the service at the graveside.
