Walter Lesley Owen, 72, of Easley, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital-Downtown.
Born in Easley, to the late Walter Paul and Sylvia Lesley Owen, "Les" graduated from Easley High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, Lesley was put in charge of researching and recording the history of the U.S. Air Force, a task that he was honored to be given. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Texas, where he spent many years of his life until he moved to Mississippi, where he worked at Plumrose until his retirement. He returned to Easley four years ago and spent his time dabbling in amateur photography, golfing, painting and drawing. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and attended Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Matthew Rogers (Christina) of Booneville, MS; a very special lady friend, Cleon Meece; three sisters, Paula Baumann (Leon Gragg) of Covington, GA, Norma Thompson (Jimmy) and Joyce Duncan (Gary), both of Easley; and three grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Michael.
Funeral services will be 3:30 P.M. Sunday, August 3, 2014 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Reverend Dr. David Gallamore officiating. Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 3:15 P.M. Sunday, prior to the service at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
