Wayne Harvey Martin, 72, of Aliceville, Alabama, formerly of Easley, and husband of Joyce Powell Martin, died Monday, November 17, 2008, at Pickens County Medical Center, in Carrollton, Alabama.
Born December 5, 1935, in Pickens County, he was a son of the late John Harvey and Mallie Gibson Martin. He was a graduate of Clemson University and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Mr. Martin was a retired plant manager for Fruit of the Loom and a member of Aliceville First Baptist Church where he was active in home missions. He was also a member of Gideon International Pickens County Camp, the Aliceville Rotatory Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Pickens Academy school board and a volunteer at Pickens County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel-Downtown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
Survivors include: his wife of the home; a daughter, Joy Martin Samford (Bobby) of Auburn, Alabama; a sister, Alice Gambrell (Donald) of Piedmont; three grandchildren; Amanda, Chase and Clay; a step sister, Ruby Hayes;and step-brothers, Larry and Bruce Gibson.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a brother, John David Martin and a step-brother, Charles Gibson.
