Earle Wayne Williams, 90, of 2410 Earls Bridge Road, Dacusville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 07, 2010 with his family by his side, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Mr. Williams was the son of the late Norman B. and Kate L. Williams. He was preceded in death by two sons-Stanley Baxter and Donald Wayne Williams; three sisters- Ola Faye Williams, Vonnie Couch, and Kathryn Jameson; two brothers-Charles Roe and N.B. Williams; and a son-in-law-Bobby Joe Wilson.
Mr. Williams was a 1937 graduate of Dacusville High School. Forever a Gamecock, Mr. Williams was a proud 1941 graduate of the University of South Carolina and member of the Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. While at the University of South Carolina, Mr. Williams met and married Ms. Dorothy Padgett, to whom he was happily married for 67 years. Mr. Williams served as a former member of the Pickens County Board of Education, served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, and was instrumental in establishing the Dacusville Cedar-Rock Water Company, where he served as the Secretary-Treasurer for 40 years. Mr. Williams retired from the United States Post Office as a rural mail carrier in 1982.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy P. Williams, he is survived by a daughter, Gloria W. Wilson; a sister, Dorothy W. Jameson; nine grandchildren-Holley Gaston (Jeff), Brent Wilson (Allison), Chad Williams (Shawna), Brandi Johnson (Ricky), Josh Williams, Heather Bruce (Jerry), Rhett Wilson (Nadia), Matthew Williams (Lynn), and Justin Williams (Kristen); 13 great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild, Charlene Lesley; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Janie McJunkins of Dacusville; and to Emily, Heather, and Tina for their attentive care while PaPa was at The McCall Hospice House.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the sanctuary of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church from 2:00-3:45 pm.
Services to celebrate Mr. Williams' life will follow at 4 o'clock, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Flowers are permitted, but memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680 or to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Food Pantry Ministry, 1623 Hester Store Road, Easley, SC 29640.
The family will be at the residence at 2410 Earls Bridge Road, Easley, SC.
