Wesley "Wes" Louis Koch, Jr., age 89, of Easley, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Wes was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man whose life was marked by love, quiet strength, and perseverance. He will be remembered for his steady presence, thoughtful nature, and deep care for those he loved. A dedicated family man, Wes was known for his deep affection for his loved ones and his unwavering commitment to their well-being. He took pride in putting his family first and ensuring that they felt loved and supported.
He was born in St. Louis, MO to the late Wesley L. Koch, Sr. and the late Elma T. Koch.
Wes served proudly in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. He was an active member of Fort Hill Presbyterian, holding numerous positions as a Deacon, Trustee, Elder and Treasurer. He was also a member of Rotary Club of Clemson.
Wes was an active member of his community, embodying the spirit of service throughout his life. His contributions were felt far and wide, particularly through his volunteer efforts with organizations such as The Dream Center, the IROC Reading Program, and the Alzheimer's Association, where he participated in numerous walks to raise awareness and support for those affected by this disease. He also found joy in ringing the bell accompanied by his beloved Snoopy for The Salvation Army, a testament to his kind-hearted nature and commitment to helping others.
Among his many accomplishments, Wes was instrumental in the renovation of the pickleball courts at Pope Field, a project that showcased his love for fitness and community engagement. An avid fitness enthusiast, he inspired others to stay active and embrace a healthy lifestyle.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Koch and his unnamed infant sister.
Along with his wife of 64 years, Judy Sapp Koch, he is survived by son, Dave Koch (Cindy); daughter, Summer Debra Hughes; cherished grandchildren, Meredith Street (William), Nicholas Nepper (Elizabeth), Amanda Koch and James Nepper; great-grandchildren, Thomas Shinkle, Eva Shinkle and a baby girl on the way; sister, Nancy Stone and all of whom brought him great pride and joy.
A prayer service in Wes' honor will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2026, in the Foothills Presbyterian Community Chapel, 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley, SC 29642. A second prayer service will take place at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 Edgewood Ave, Clemson, SC 29631.
