Dr. Wilbur Michael Riddle

Dr. Wilbur Michael Riddle, 79, husband of Janice Pope Riddle, of Easley, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
Born in Laurens, SC he was the son of the late Wilbur Lentz and Mary Bruns Riddle.
Dr. Riddle received his B.S. in Biology from Wofford College and his doctorate from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. He later served his residency in maxillofacial and oral surgery at Duke University. He started his career in general dentistry and after seven years, continued his career as an oral surgeon in Easley from 1984 until his retirement in 2014.
He golfed all over the world and skied black diamond slopes. He was a member and past president of the Easley Rotary Club, where he received the Paul Harris Award. Dr. Riddle was also a member of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the South Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, where he served as past president. He was a charter member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church in Easley.
Dr. Riddle proudly served with the U.S. Navy for over 3 years where he received the rank of LT Commander and traveled all through Europe on the USS Roosevelt. He continued to serve in reserves after his discharge until his residency at Duke University.
In addition to his loving wife of 40 years, Dr. Riddle is survived by daughters, Pilar Riddle-Perras and her husband, Craig of Seneca, and Ginga Neal of Greenville; grandchildren, Ava Pilar Riddle-Perras of Seneca, Mabrey Forrast Neal of Charleston, Briggs Reed Neal of Columbia, and Devyn Lea Neal of Greenville; and numerous loving friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at St. Matthias Lutheran Church, Easley.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pickens County Animal Shelter, 193 County Farm Rd, Pickens, SC 29671; Calvary Home for Children, 110 Calvary Home Cir, Anderson, SC 29621; or St. Matthias Lutheran Church, 501 Powdersville Rd, Easley, SC 29642.
The family requests that masks be worn and social distancing to be practiced in accordance with COVID protocols.
