Willette Gibson Roper Adams, 86, of 401 Frank Street, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late William David "Hoot" and Myrtle Satterfield Gibson. She retired from American Enka and later worked with Playskool Baby. She was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church and loved to crochet.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Roper (Sarah) and Marlin Roper, all of Easley; two daughters, Robbie Yates (Dwight) of Liberty, and Dianne Gilliland of Easley; two brothers, Coy Avery Gibson of Athens, GA and Harold Vernon Gibson of Easley; two sisters, Grace Sweatmon of Easley and Katie Cantrell of Six Mile; two step-daughters, Darlene Ramey (Rev. Tommy) of Easley and Kathy Adams of Greenville; twelve grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was predeceased by her first husband, James Garland Roper and by her second husband, George William Adams; and also by a brother, Robert Gibson and son-in-law, Otis Gilliland.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 12:30 until 1:45 PM Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.


Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Jones Avenue Baptist Church, 614 Ross Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.

The family is at the residence.
