William "Bill" Wayne Sexton

July 22, 1941 — April 15, 2026

Easley, SC

William "Bill" Wayne Sexton, 84, husband of the late Helen Reece Sexton, of Easley, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. Bill, as he was affectionately known, was a devoted man of God and a steadfast pillar of faith. He lived a life marked by humility, compassion, and unwavering trust in the Lord. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shine through the countless lives he touched.

Born on July 22, 1941 in Pickens County, to the late Sam and Laura Mae Porter Sexton, Bill dedicated his life to walking closely with Christ. His faith was not merely spoken - it was lived. Through words of encouragement, acts of kindness, and the grace and integrity with which he carried himself, he reflected the love of Jesus in everything he did.

Bill was one of the founding members of Open Praise Fellowship Church, a church he loved and was so dear to his heart. He attended regularly until declining health prevented him from doing so. He also held Bethany Church of God and Amazing Grace Fellowship very close in his heart. He had so many friends and family within these churches. To him, they were all home anytime he stepped inside. Many will remember his steadfast presence, his heartfelt prayers, and his willingness to serve wherever there was a need. Over the course of his Christian life, Bill proudly served more than 30 years as a deacon and Sunday School superintendent.

Outside of his walk with Christ, Bill cherished his family above all. He was a loving husband, Daddy, Papa, and brother. He was a source of strength, yet a gentle presence who will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the peace that comes from a life anchored in Christ.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that he is now in the presence of the Lord he so faithfully served. His race is finished, his work is complete, and he has heard the words he longed for: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

One of his favorite sayings was that he was "just waiting on his ride." It wasn't an earthly ride - it was his journey home. And now, Bill is finally home.

Bill is survived by his children: daughter, Michelle Eller (Joel) and son, Roger Sexton (Lisa); grandchildren, Lynette Brackett (Brad Hendrix), Kaley McJunkin (Adam), Cody Powell (Faith), Bill Sexton, Amber Wirtz, and Ronnie Rogers; 13 great-grandchildren, Connor, Cohen and Alayna Powell, Emitt and Sawyer McJunkin, Jacob and Luke Brackett, Sophia Rogers, Haileigh Sexton, Declan Benford, Julia and Luna Wirtz, and Shaley Sexton; sisters, Sarah Moore (Paul) and Charlene Baker; and brothers, Melvin Sexton (Becky), Gary Sexton (Vickie), and Milton Sexton (Linda).

In addition to his parents and his loving wife of 49 years, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Crystal Sexton; and brothers, Richard "Terry" Sexton, Kenneth Sexton, and Ronnie Sexton.
