Mr. William Carl Blackston, Sr., 93, of 115 Cater Drive, Easley, loving husband of the late Dorothy Ferguson Blackston, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Brookdale Assisted Living.

Carl was born in Piedmont, SC on September 17, 1921 to the late John H. and Beulah Campbell Blackston. Carl was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He started his working career with BI-LO Furniture Store in Greenville, then in Greer. Carl then went to work for Ridge Haven Presbyterian Camp in NC, where he retired as a superintendent. He also worked for Moccasin Creek State Park in GA at the Fish Hatchery. He was an avid fly fisherman, tying his own flies that he made out of anything he could find, and loved the outdoors. Carl was a longtime member of Second Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and a Deacon, and was a current member of Crosswell First Baptist Church.

Carl is survived by a son; William Carl Blackston, Jr. (Donna), of Easley; a sister; Hazel Bridges (Carl), of Anderson; two brothers; Charles Blackston (Phoebe), of Greenville and Douglas Blackston (Blanche), of Union; four grandchildren; Anne Pittman, William Carl "Billy" Blackston III, Angela Moore Blackston, and Angela Marie Atkins; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife of 64 years and parents, Carl was preceded in death by a sister; Elizabeth Waldrop, and a brother; J.C. Blackston.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Crosswell First Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. They will also receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM.

The family is at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Gideons International, Powdersville Camp; P.O. Box 51064, Piedmont, SC 29673.
