William Eugene "Gene" Bowie, 62, of 120 Hollow Lane, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Mildred Cely Bowie of Easley and the late Lewis Aubrey Bowie. He was a 1967 graduate of Presbyterian College with a BA degree in Psychology, received his Masters degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 1969, and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He was formerly a counselor for SC Vocational Rehabilitation, and was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, William Eugene Bowie, Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, Cynthia Ann Bowie of Columbia; a brother, James Cely Bowie and wife Barbara of Easley; three nieces, Melissa Ann Potter and husband Todd of Charlotte, NC, Michelle Cely Navis and husband Chad of Atlanta, GA, Melissa Peach of Lancaster; and a nephew, Michael Cook of Conway. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Lewis Aubrey Bowie, Jr.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. Burial will follow in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Presbyterian College Psychology Department; 503 South Broad Street; Clinton, South Carolina 29325.

The family is at the home of his brother, 240 St. Paul Road; Easley, SC 29642.
