William Burt Butts, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.
He was born, August 6, 1932 in LaGrange, GA.
After graduating from Hapeville High School (GA), he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. After earning his Associates Degree, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Upon completion of his military service, he worked for the city of Atlanta until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leverett B. Butts, Sr., and Mildred Dunson Butts; brothers, Leverett B. Butts, Jr. and Edgar Dunson Butts; and sisters, Helen Butts Hostrawser and Frances Butts Terkanian.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed many hobbies, including flying, operating a HAM radio, bird watching, raising chickens, gardening, but especially painting. He shared his talents with family and many friends.
He loved his family, his Faith, and his country. He was a gentle and kind soul who always helped his fellow man.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at East Clemson Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to the charity of your choice.
