Willam "Buck" Davis, Jr.
- Central
William "Buck" Davis, born on October 22nd, 1920, died Friday June 1st, 2007 at the Richard M. Campbell Nursing Center in Anderson. He was the son of the late Ernest Davis and Kate Brock Davis of Williamston, SC. He was a native of Honea Path however spent most of years in Seneca and Central.
He had an extremely kind heart and never met a stranger. His life long love of baseball began when he was a young man playing in mill league tournaments. He gave up his passion for baseball to serve his family and country in WWII. After serving in Pearl Harbor he continued working two jobs to support his family. After his retirement at J.P. Stevens, Seneca, his love for baseball persevered through the Atlanta Braves. He never missed a game on television. He had a strong Baptist faith and was a member of Freedom Fellowship Church in Central. Even through his battles with sickness he was always able to see the lighter side of life and completely light up a room with quick-witted smile and a joke. He was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed and never forgotten by anyone who truly knew him.
He was a loving husband and dedicated giving father. He is survived by a daughter, Diane Martin of Pendleton, grandchildren, Lisa Fowler, Kim Land, Melanie Martin and Joey Martin, great-grandchildren, Daniel Taylor, Jonathan McAlister, Alyssa Martin, step-daughters, Amy Campbell of Central, Judy Lynn Black of Pendleton, step-grandchildren, Angie Black, Julie Perry and Neil Hedden.
