William Ansel Deadwyler

William Ansel Deadwyler, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 23, 2021. He was born on May 4, 1938 to James Carl Deadwyler, Sr. and Ila F. Deadwyler in Cateechee, SC. Above all, Ansel loved God and his family. A loving husband and father, doting grandfather, and a compassionate and giving friend to many. He had a servant heart and never missed an opportunity to serve others. He loved spending time with family, visiting homebound friends and neighbors, riding on his tractor, cheering on the Clemson Tigers and was always ready to tell a story.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Bolding Deadwyler; daughters Cindy Deadwyler Scott (Stan), Susan Deadwyler, and Teena Deadwyler Watson (Scott); grandchildren Lindsay Scott Thompson (Josh), Haley Scott Rogers (Tia), Maggie McConnell Phillips (Keels), Alex Watson Warren (Josh), Austin Watson (Brittany) and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Deadwyler Moore (Jim) and two brothers, James C. Deadwyler, Jr. (Doris) and Harris Deadwyler (Nancy) along with many nieces and nephews.
Ansel was a member of Easley First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon Emeritus. He also served on numerous church, civic and community boards. He spent most of his life in Six Mile, SC where the family owned and operated Deadwyler's Shopping Center and he most recently resided in Belton, SC. During his career, in addition to serving in the US Army, he was Elected Superintendent and Director of Transportation for the School District of Pickens County and Robinson's Funeral Home. One of the things he loved the most was helping people in need especially through his work with SHINE Soup Kitchen.
