William Alvin Finley, 80, formerly of Piedmont and widower of Virginia Evelyn Stegall Finley, died Thursday, September 14, 2006 in High Point, NC.

Mr. Finley was born in Anderson County, a son of the late Amos Oscar and Pearlie Williams Finley.
He was a retired truck driver with Overnite Transportation and was a member of Fork Shoals Baptist Church.

Surviving are: two sons, David A. Finley and William O. Finley both of Piedmont; daughters, Dorothy Ann Shelton of Pickens, Linda J. Dickert of Greenville, Jean Blackwell of Easley and Sandra Boyce of Gray Court, SC; a sister, Hazel Owen of Greenville; 8 grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Finley was predeceased by: 3 daughters, Jeanette Marie Finley, Mary Laura Finley and Nancy Joyce Finley; a brother, Floyd Fendley; a sister Dorothy Finley; and his Step Mother, Jessie Young Finley.

Services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with burial in Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.

The family will be at their respective homes.

Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown is assisting the family with arrangements.
