W.L. Freeman

William "Billy" Lloyd Freeman, 86, of 215 High Valley Blvd. and husband of the late Mary Ruth McJunkin Freeman, went to be with the Lord Sunday December 18, 2011 at McCall Hospice House.
Mr. Freeman was born in Hendersonville, NC, a son of the late William and Alma Holcombe Freeman. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of W.W. II having served in Normandy and was a member of the first platoon that landed at Normandy Beach. He retired from Young's Hearing Aid Service after 50 years of service. Mr. Freeman was an active member of Tremont Church of God where he was a former Sunday School Superintendant, Church Trustee, a member of the Church and Pastors Council, the Christian Education Board, the Wilson Kilgore Sunday School Class and the Golden Gems Senior Adult Ministry.
Surviving are his son, Chaplain Lamont Freeman and his wife, Nora, of Ozark, Alabama; a daughter, Denise Osteen and her husband, Barry, of Greenville; a sister, Mary Lou Sims, of Greenville; 5 grandchildren, Justin Osteen, Clayton and Kelly Osteen, Andrew Freeman, Allison Freeman and Adam Freeman; 2 great-grandchildren, Kyler Freeman and Zane Osteen.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Tremont Church of God with the Reverend Wilson Kilgore, the Reverend Tim A. Kerns, the Reverend Bob Gibson and the Reverend Gary Cannon officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Graceland Cemetery, East.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM Wednesday, prior to the service, at the church.
Members of the Wilson Kilgore Sunday School Class are invited to serve as Escort of Honor for the funeral service.
The family will be at the residence.
