Rev. William A. "Bill" Hampton, 87, formerly of 321 Katherine Street, husband of the late Lucille Cape Hampton, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at Harvey's Nursing Center.

Born in Anderson County, the son of the late James Homer Hampton, Sr., and the late Ellen Sosebee Hampton, Rev. Hampton was a retired Southern Baptist Minister having served as pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ware Shoals, Cedar Rock Baptist Church in Easley, Salem Baptist Church in Anderson, and Cateechee Baptist Church. He was a member of Geer Memorial Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Marines.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Ann Hampton of Easley; a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Roy Nabors of Easley; two grandchildren, Ben Nabors of Austin, TX, and Angela Collins of Columbia. In addition to his wife and parents, Rev. Hampton was predeceased by three brothers, James Homer Hampton, Jr., Worth C. Hampton and Thomas Fred "Ted" Hampton, two sisters, Ophelia Hampton and Addie Hampton, and by a granddaughter, Captain Kimberly Hampton.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with Rev. Billy Freeman, Rev. Ken Collins and Rev. Archie Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in the Veteran's Garden of Honor of Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.

Visitation will be from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Memorials may be made in memory of Rev. William A. Hampton to the Captain Kimberly Hampton Memorial Library, 304 Biltmore Road, Easley, SC 29640.

The family is at the home of Dale and Ann Hampton, 601 Shadow Oak Drive, Easley, SC 29642.
