William Dean "Bill" Marchbanks, Jr., 75, of 602 East Second Avenue, died Monday, October 23, 2006, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late William Dean "Bub" Marchbanks, Sr., and the late Bessie Burdette Marchbanks, Mr. Marchbanks was a retired antiques dealer and a member of First Baptist Church, Easley, where he belonged to the sanctuary choir, the Heart Song Choir and the Nursing Home Ministry Choir. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Sue Bolding Marchbanks of the home; two sons, William Dean Marchbanks, III, and his wife, Linda of Greenville and James Douglas Marchbanks and his wife, Susan, of Easley; a brother, E.J. "Jim" Marchbanks of Tampa, FL; four sisters, Clara M. Alexander and her husband, Frank, and Jennie M. Garrett, all of Greenville, Mary M. Harris of Panama City, FL, and Daphna M. Turner, of Easley; four grandchildren, James Nicholas Marchbanks, Jon Strong, Mason Frantom and Elizabeth F. Merck; and a great-grandson, Ashton Merck. In addition to his parents, Mr. Marchbanks was predeceased by an infant daughter, Susan Cleo Marchbanks, a brother, David D. Marchbanks, Sr., and by three sisters, Dorothy M. Wade, Miriem M. Glasby and Ressie M. Sanders.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Easley, with Rev. Dr. John Adams and Rev. Rick Baumgarner officiating. Burial will folllow in Westview Cemetery.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. in the church narthex, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church, 300 East First Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.

The family is at the residence.
