William Crayton Mauldin

Crayton Mauldin, 76, husband of Joan Garren Mauldin for fifty years, went home to be with the Lord on Monday December 14, 2009, after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Mr. Mauldin was born in Oconee County but grew up in Liberty, SC. He was a son of the late Clarence Tompkins and Rosa Fay Williams mauldin. He graduated from Liberty High School and the Carolina School of Commerce where he met Joan. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and the U.S. Army while employed at the Army Reserve Center.
Crayton was head of the accounting department of Leslie Advertising Agency in Greenville for 32 years, retiring as Senior Vice President / Controller and a member of the board of directors. His walk with the Lord Jesus was evident to all who knew him. He was a faithful member of Siloam Baptist Church for 39 years, a former deacon and member of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Steven Crayton Mauldin, of the home and his daughter, Susan and her husband, Glenn Johnson, of Powdersville ; six grandchildren, Noah, Elijah, Micah, Hannah, Sarah and Isaiah Johnson. He was "Poppy" to his grandchildren and other special friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Also surviving are his sister Mary Lou Ellenburg and Brother, James Milton Mauldin, both of Liberty.
A celebration of his life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Siloam Baptist Church, Powdersville. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Members of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort for the service.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road.
