William Luther Phillips, Jr.

William Luther Phillips, Jr., husband to the late Betty Thomas Phillips, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
Born in Lancaster County , a son to the late William Luther Phillips, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Phillips, he was a Korean War veteran who retired from the U.S. Army and received Combat Jump Wings, a Combat Glider Badge, a Korean Service Medal, a Purple Heart, an Occupation Medal, a United Nations Service Medal, and numerous other military honors. Mr. Phillips was of the Baptist faith and loved fishing, gardening, Clemson football, and Atlanta Braves baseball, but his greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter, Stacy Phillips Davis (Aaron); a brother, Dock Phillips (Sandra); a sister, Edith; grandchildren, Jonathan Kroeger (Rebekah), Jenna Johns, Jared Davis (Lyndsay), and Caitlin Panepinto (Matt); and great-grandchildren, Reagan McQueen, Rachel McQueen, Marissa McQueen, and Matthew Johns.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 54 years, he was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Lynn Phillips Kroeger; and fifteen siblings.
The family will host memorial services at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Marathon Church in Greenville.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the church.
