William Gene Roberts

William Gene Roberts “Willy”, 75, of Pendleton, passed away December 31, 2022.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Winnifred Hammonds Roberts. Willy was raised in Van Nuys, CA and played first base for the Van Nuys High School Varsity baseball team. He was a DeMolay with a local Mason chapter in Van Nuys. Willy was proud to work as a Master Electrician for many years and also worked in sales for a local paper company in Van Nuys, CA. He volunteered at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles as a docent before moving to South Carolina. Bill loved sports, especially the Los Angeles Dodgers, University of Southern California, and Clemson University. He enjoyed playing golf, reading, bluegrass/folk music, watching magicians & illusionists and attending rodeos. Mr. William Roberts took great pride in his yard and was a meticulous gardener. Every spring he was dutiful to put out food for his retuning hummingbirds and received immense pleasure watching them flock to feed. 

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Morris (William) of Pendleton; stepson, Gabriel Roberts of California; grandchildren, Jacob William Morris (Olivia Gay), Abigail Jane Morris, Dean Roberts, and Magdelana Roberts; brother, Gary Douglas Roberts (Jeanne); niece, Ellen Joy Roberts (Fernando Garcia); nephew, David William Roberts (Xya); great-niece, Jane Elyse Roberts. Willy is also survived by his beloved companion dog, Chloe.

He was predeceased by his parents and a daughter, Jennifer Lorraine Roberts.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate his life will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

The family requests no flowers and memorials may be made to First Nations Development Institute www.firstnations.org.
