William George Shivar, 87, of the Clemson Downs , formerly of Fair Play, SC and husband of Rose Evans Ulmer Shivar died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in Clemson, SC.
Born in Bonneau, SC he was a son of the late George Felder and Rachael Elizabeth (Bessie) Morrow Shivar. Mr. Shivar was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC and earned his Masters in Administration and Science from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He was a retired Administrator in public schools for St. Stephen, SC. He was a member of St. Stephen Christian Church where he served as the organist, treasurer and Sunday School teacher; the First Christian Church in Black Mountain, NC; and Fair Play Presbyterian Church in Fair Play, SC. After his retirement in 1983 he was a volunteer tour guide with the Middleton Place Foundation in Charleston, SC and a volunteer Christmount at the Christian Assembly at Black Mountain, NC.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home is a daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Rose S. Kaye (Charles) of Suwanee, GA; son, William (Bill) George Shivar, Jr. (Kathi) of Central, SC; grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, Stephen, Alexandria, Kimberly, and Nicholas; and great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Robert and Janna.
A Memorial service will be held at 3 PM, Friday at Fair Play Presbyterian Church in Fair Play, SC. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 PM Saturday at Dial Funeral Chapel in St. Stephen, SC.
A graveside service will be held at 3 PM, Saturday in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in St. Stephen, SC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christmount Christian Assembly, 222 Fern Way, Black Mountain, NC 28711 or to the American Cancer Society.
