Mr. William Zane Simmons, 82, of 184 Griffin Road, Easley, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his residence.

Zane was born in Pickens County on December 7, 1933 to the late Guy Milton and Pauline Looper Simmons. He graduated from Dacusville High School and was of the Baptist Faith. Zane was a United States Air Force Veteran of 10 years. Zane worked for Sangamo Electric in Pickens as a plant engineer before transferring to run their plant in Juarez, Mexico. After Sangamo, he worked for Ivey Inc. and then for Rock City Mechanical. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching or reading westerns. 

Zane is survived by his brother; Don S. Simmons, Sr. (Tracy), of Easley; two sisters; Jean S. Griffin and Hope S. Hendricks, both of Easley; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. Zane is also survived by a special friend, his Yorkie-Poo, Jake.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 19, 2015 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. Interment will follow at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home prior to the service on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the caregivers of Amedisys Hospice and to Rev. Mark Bernshausen for all of their care and concern during Zane's sickness.

The family will be at the residence and requests that memorials be made to a charity of one's choice.
