Willie Chiles Martin

Willie Chiles Martin, wife of the late John Campbell Martin, died on 24 July 2017.

Willie was a native of Bradley SC, daughter of the late John Hearst and Emma Eleanor Monroe Chiles. She received BA and MA degrees from Clemson University, where Willie was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. She was privileged to have been an adjunct instructor at Tri County Technical College. She enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, the Clemson Community Library and several committees at St. Andrew Catholic Church, including the Funeral Committee. She and Campbell will always be remembered for their love of shag dancing.

She is survived by her daughters Dianne Martin, and husband, Bill Utic of Fremont, CA; Cyndi Martin Freeman, and husband, Terry Freeman of Winston Salem, NC; Pat Martin-Perkins and husband, Hal Perkins of Simpsonville SC; grandchildren Emily Freeman Reed and husband, Robbie of Austin TX; Christopher Freeman and wife, Nicki of Charlotte, NC; Sloane Perkins of Simpsonville, SC and great granddaughter Betsy Reed.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John Hearst Chiles, and sister, Francis Cleora Steifle.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Willie C. Martin will be held at 2 PM, Monday, October 2, 2017 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson. Mrs. Martin who died on July 24, 2017, was the widow of John Campbell Martin.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church Building Fund or to Habitat for Humanity.
