Zelma O'Shields Sommer

Zelma Irene Carson O'Shields Sommer, 87, of 1749 Jameson Road, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.
Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Guy and Mary Revis Carson, Mrs. Sommer retired from Sangamo Electric in Pickens, and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.
Surviving are her second husband, John Sommer of the home; a son, Daniel Scott O'Shields and wife, Judy, of Easley; two daughters, Mary Louise Hawkins and husband, Truman, and Irene Hooper, all of Easley; two sisters, Virginia Skelton of Easley, and Betty Mae Ramey of Pickens; two step-sons, Tim Sommer and wife, Terri, of Macon GA, and Mark Sommer and wife, Loretta, of PA; and eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sommer was predeceased by her first husband, W.L. O'Shields, Jr., a daughter, Elizabeth "Becky" Henderson, a son Jackson O'Shields, a grandson, Justin O'Shields and a great-grandson, Hank Hawkins, Jr.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home- Downtownwith Rev. Roger Todd and Rev. Greg Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
