Deborah Sue Stapleton, born on November 19, 1953, to the late James Lloyd Lucas Jr. and Sarah Elizabeth Lucas passed away on April 24, 2025.
Debbie earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University in Administrative Management. She played flute and piccolo in the Clemson University Bands, and went on to serve as a board member for the Clemson University Tiger Band Association (CUTBA), an organization her husband co-founded.
Debbie was known for her very quick-witted sense of humor, which brought joy to those around her. She had a passion for gardening, reading, puzzles, movies, and Clemson sports. An amazing cook, Debbie delighted family and friends alike with her culinary skills.
Her proudest accomplishment in life was her family. She cherished them deeply and dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting her loved ones. Debbie will be remembered fondly for her vibrant spirit and the happiness she spread in her time with us.
Debbie is survived by daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Stapleton; sisters, Rhonda Grace Garrett and Patricia Gayle Morris; and brother-in-law, Raymond Scott Stapleton.
In addition to her parents, Debbie is preceded in death by husband, Tony Robert Stapleton; son, James Robert Stapleton; and brother, James Lloyd Lucas III.
A visitation will take place on Saturday May 10th, 2025, from 10:00 – 10:45 am at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow visitation in the chapel starting at 11:00 am.
